Artist Help:Override Cue
This document describes a scenario where you have a list of cues controlling a group of fixtures. These cues are in constant use but occasionally you want some of these fixtures to do something other than what the other fixtures in the group are doing as programmed in the cue.
This idea uses the fact that setting the Parameter Flags of a fixture parameter causes data from the cues to be blocked; a kind of override.
The principle is that a cue will activate a scene using a System command, which has the same effect as if you had activated the scene manually, setting Parameter Flags of any fixture parameters accessed by this scene and thus blocking (overriding) cue data.
Create the Override Scene[edit]
- Program the fixtures you want on in the override scene setting any colour, dimmers or gobos that you require. Only the Parameters you program into the scene will be overridden.
- In the Program Window click New Scene and name it appropriately.
Create the Override Cue[edit]
- Create a blank cue by simply clicking New Cue in the Program Control window.
- Name it appropriately.
- In the Cue Navigator, right-click on the cue you just created and select Add Scene/Cue
- Select the Scene tab and click on the override scene you created previously.
- Click Add Command
- Select On at Start of fade in
- Check Add deactivate
- Select Off at start of fade out
- Click OK
That's it. Now when you activate the override cue the selected fixtures will be blocked from any fixture group cues that are running and will output the data from the override scene. When you deactivate they will return to the active fixture group cue.
