Artist Help:Features

From ShowCAD Wiki

DMX Output[edit]

Output via USB/DMX, Art-Net, KiNet, and PathPort.
Unlimited number of universes, limited only by the PC’s power.

System Commands[edit]

System Commands: Access most system functions like playing media files, activating Cue Lists, sending MIDI messages, etc.
Internal commands to trigger functions within Artist.
Use with Cues or to patch external devices to Artist.

MIDI Input/Output[edit]

USB-connected MIDI interfaces can send or receive messages via System Commands.

Audio[edit]

FFT audio signal processing to produce triggers and BPM sync for cues and scenes.

DMX Input[edit]

Artist can receive 1 universe of DMX data via Art-Net and connect it to System Commands.

Data Acquisitions[edit]

Send and receive digital and analog data via USB interfaces and integrate with Artist via System Commands.

Serial Data[edit]

Serial data connected as COM ports can be integrated with Artist via System Commands.

Network Text Data[edit]

Simple text messages from external devices on TCP/IP can directly access System Commands.

Cue List[edit]

Cue Lists: Central playback objects that can interact or operate independently.
Interlocked: Only one Cue can be active at a time.
Momentary: Cues are active while the button is pressed, similar to a manual flash list.
Latched: Cues can be toggled on or off independently.
House Lights: All Cues are active and controlled via faders, with presets for fading between states.
Events: Cues can be triggered by time-coded events.
Global Interlock: Cues in this list can deactivate Cues in other specified lists.
Global Solo: Temporarily deactivates Cues in other specified lists, restoring them when deactivated.
Priority: Outputs to a Priority channel that overrides data from other Cue lists.
Daylight Harvesting: Uses light-level data from a connected IA device to control Cue levels, reducing energy use.

Global Control[edit]

Blackout/Restore: zero all dimmer channels and restore
BPM: audio BPM sync for triggers
Proportional Rate: adjust all cues rate proportionally
Blind Edit: make changes without altering the output in live situations
Master Fader: adjust all dimmers proportionally

Fixture Management[edit]

Active fixture view: graphical fixture view showing active data
Complex Fixture Profiles: Comprehensive library and Profile Wizard for creating new profiles.
Fixture Control: Control parameters like Linear, X/Y, Polar, Colour Mix, and Selector with graphical DMX output representation.
Effect Canvas: for plotting pixels in a virtual space and multi-layer graphics effects including video, image, animations and video capture.
Scenes: Macros that can contain stepped sequences, reusable by Cues.
Chases: Customizable for every parameter of a fixture.
Effects: Customizable effects for each fixture parameter (e.g., yoke, mirror, colour mix).

Control Panels[edit]

Cue Lists Panel: Displays selected Cue Lists, allowing activation via mouse or touch screen.
Fader Panel: Displays faders connected to any list or Cue, live tracking changes with House light functions.
Master Panel: Contains Global Level and Rate control, Blackout, and other global functions.
Cue Panel: Shows specific Cues only.
Multiple Instances: Create multiple instances for low-resolution screens.
Remote: Customizable remote panels for multiple tablets.
Patching: Connects external devices to internal System Commands.

Event Handling[edit]

Event Sources: Audio timecode, video timecode, MIDI timecode, time-of-day, free timer
List Events: Automatically activate and deactivate Cues.
Event Scripts: Connect events to System Commands for accessing all system functions.
Scheduler: 365 day calendar events.

Media Handling[edit]

Audio Files: Play and output through multiple devices or channels, track time streams in scripts or Cue List events.
Video Files: Play and display on connected screens, with multiple file streams triggering system events.

File Management[edit]

Workspace: Files that make up the workspace (fixture, scenes and cues).
Profiles: profiles to install fixture
Backup: Automatically archive previous workspace saves.
Log: Stores loading and error information for diagnostics.
Activity: Logs Cue activity, showing activation and deactivation times.
Chronometer: Logs system usage hours.
