This is a short guide on how to use and set up real-time events. The key to understanding what you can do with these events is in the power of the System Commands that connect real-time events with Artist functions. === Define your cues === Before actually creating your events you should put your cues in a list and develop some idea of the order in which they will activate. It is good practice to step through the days events manually to see that the transitions are correct. === Keep it simple === Initially, at least, it is very important to keep it simple. You only make life more difficult if you create unnecessary cues and events. If you find that at 9.00PM you want to go through four colours at one-minute intervals you should not create four events (9.00, 9.01, 9.02 and 9.03), you should, instead, create a scene that has four steps each containing the required colour and have the cue that is triggered at 9.00PM start the scene with one-minute intervals. === Make Artist work for you === Often people want to start and event and finish an event. Unless this is specifically required you should let Artist's cue list action do this for you. By default the cue list is in 'Interlock' mode. This means that as a cue is activated a previous cue will be deactivated. This means that simply by creating an event to activate a cue can, simultaneously, deactivate the cue activated by the previous event. === Let it Play === The problem with real-time events is that twenty-four hours is a long time to sit around which is why the first point in this discussion is so important. The Time Control section in the Master Frame is where you start the events. You can also set this to automatically start when Artist boots up. This is import is for any reason Artist is shut-down unintentionally.
